It was over a quarter-century since the last professional full-scale staging of Cav & Pag, as part of a late Sadler's Wells tour in 1972. Scottish Opera's only attempt at this point had been a medium-scale version, and they have only added a single concert performance since then. The pairing has retained popularity with the various amateur groups, however, and they have been revived from time to time. Here, Edinburgh Grand chose to update their production to the 1990s and set it in a TV studio - Silvio being the floor manager.
