Madam Butterfly had, outside London, been the province of Moody-Manners and then O'Mara over the preceding decade. Here the Carl Rosa company took it up, and it would be an important work for them during the next forty years.

Cast details for this Saturday matinee at Glasgow Theatre Royal are from a programme in the Gardiner Collection at the Mitchell Library.

The note in the Scotsman concerning the matinee on 27 July notes one cast change, and says that "It was throughout a most artistic performance."

The touring schedule for Scotland during the year 1918 was as follows:-

The season consisted two weeks at Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum, then four weeks at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal. Following a break of two months or so, the company returned to Glasgow for four weeks and finally a week back at the Royal Lyceum.
