Thomas Oliphant published a translation in 1861 of Scribe's libretto for La Circassienne, an opera by Auber that only ever seems to have been performed in Paris. His English performing version of Fidelio was first given at the London Lyceum on 2 November 1876, and would survive until Sadler's Wells Opera brought out the E J Dent translation in 1937.
