Scottish Opera-Go-Round

Scottish Opera re-introduced a small-scale company along the lines of the old Opera For All set up.  Instead of three operas touring at once, there was just one.  While it was generally accompanied by piano, there were occasions when a small orchestra was made available.  There was no chorus.

Repertoire still included the standard elements used in this format - The Barber of Seville and Così fan tutte, for instance, being obvious candidates.  However some very bold experiments were tried, including three operas by Janáček, and on one occasion, Verdi's Don Carlos.
