RCS to perform Merry Wives of Windsor

Posted 27 Dec 2012

Nicolai's opera The Merry Wives of Windsor is to be performed at the New Athenaeum Theatre in May by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  This charming comedy is not often performed nowadays (though Fife Opera put on creditable performances in Kirkcaldy in 2008).  First presented in Scotland at Aberdeen in 1877 by Carl Rosa Opera, it is highly recommended for anyone who has not yet heard it - and for those who have.  Other operatic performances at the Conservatoire in the first half of 2013 include masterclasses with John Treleaven and Jane Eaglen, Opera Scenes and a concert involving Scottish Opera emerging artists.  Check our listings for details.
