English tenor.

Derek Blackwell studied at Leeds College of Music, later joining the staff there. He worked with Scottish Opera for several seasons. In addition to a range of short roles with the company, he also toured with the small-scale Opera for All group, where his roles included Lionel and Alfredo.

In 1976 he joined English National Opera, where his repertoire included Adolar in Euryanthe and Turiddu.
