Scottish mezzo-soprano.

Allison Cook trained in Glasgow at the RSAMD. She continued her studies in Strasbourg (Les Jeunes Voix du Rhin) and in Paris (Centre Formation Lyrique at the Opéra National).

Appearances at the Royal Opera House include Blossom (world premiere of Anna Nicole by Turnage) and Margret Wozzeck. At the London Barbican she created roles in Gerald Barry's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, repeating this at Los Angeles. Other appearances in Britain include Glyndebourne on Tour (Carmen, Orlofsky). While a student in Glasgow she sang leading roles in works by Donizetti and Prokofiev. She has also appeared with Opera on a Shoestring and Haddo House. Her Scottish Opera debut was in Turnage's Greek.

At La Scala Milan (and Barcelona) she created Marquise de Merteuil in the premiere of Luca Francesconi's Quartett. Further appearances at La Scala include Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw).

She has also worked at Strasbourg (Composer), Wiener Festwochen (Valletto & Fortuna L'incoronazione di Poppea); Warsaw (Judith Duke Bluebeard's Castle), Aix-en-Provence (Valletto & Fortuna). She has sung the Duchess in Powder Her Face (Thomas Adès) at New York City Opera, Brussels and Warsaw.
