American soprano.

 

She studied with the American-based Romanian lyric soprano Virginia Zeani, and initially sang roles in the Italian repertoire. Her international career developed as a dramatic soprano, specialising in the heavy roles of Wagner and Strauss as well as modern works.

She has worked in Italy (Venice, Bologna, Florence, Naples), France (Paris, Strasbourg, Bordeaux) as well as Geneva and the Bregenz Festival. She sang her first Isolde at Madrid and Brünnhilde in her first Ring cycle at Strasbourg. She appeared in Santiago as Ortrud and Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth. Other roles in her repertoire include Senta, Venus, Turandot, Judith and Elektra. New work includes L'espace dernier and Liebermann's Medea in Paris, and Fénelon's Les Rois at Bordeaux.
