Born Hertfordshire.

English mezzo-soprano.

Louise Collett was a Samling scholar at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, gaining a first-class degree, a postgraduate diploma, a Master of Music and a Master of Opera. At the RSAMD she won the Jean Highgate Scholarship, Governors’ Recital Prize, Frank Spedding Lieder Prize and Margaret Dick Competition.

She spent the summer of 2007 in the Chorus of the Bayreuth Festival for Parsifal, Tannhaüser, and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

She spent a season as a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist, making her company debut in 2008 as Olga in The Merry Widow. During the Scottish Opera 2009/10 Season she also appeared with The Orchestra of Scottish Opera at St Andrew’s in the Square, in the chorus of The Elixir of Love and on the Opera Highlights tour, and covered the role of Isabella in The Italian Girl in Algiers. She went on to perform several principal roles with the company.

Other operatic engagements include Arnalta L’incoronazione di Poppea, 3rd Woman The Vanishing Bridegroom, Older Woman Flight, Florence Pike Albert Herring, Olga Eugene Onegin, La Prieure Dialogues des Carmélites (RSAMD); and Apprentice Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg  (Edinburgh International Festival).
