Richard Shaffrey Suggest updates

Irish tenor.

Richard Shaffrey trained at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, completing a DipMus in Performance, before he was accepted onto the Northern Ireland Opera Young Artists' Programme. He now studies in Glasgow on the MMus opera programme at RCS under Stephen Robertson.

Operatic roles performed at RIAM include title role Albert Herring and Schoolmaster The Cunning Little Vixen. At the RCS he has sung Ferrando Così fan tutte, Lechmere Owen Wingrave, Tristan Le vin herbé and Alfred Die Fledermaus.

At the Wexford Festival he sang in the chorus for 2013 and 2014, making his solo debut in 2016 as Il Cancelliere in Donizetti's Maria de Rudenz.

He has worked with Ulysses-Opera (Tenor Flatpack) and Clonter Opera (Gastone La traviata). With Grange Park Opera he sang in the chorus (2015).
