Maria Jeritza, one of the most famous sopranos of her generation, sang little in Britain. Her only operatic appearances came at Covent Garden in the 1925 season, when she sang Tosca and Fedora. She returned in 1929, and embarked on a concert tour of Britain giving several recitals in Scotland. At this time her formal name was Baroness Popper - the Baron being the second of her four husbands.

There was also a group of English language songs that included works by Bishop and Mrs HHA Beach.
The other artist on the programme was the 13-year-old violin prodigy Wolfi, whose programme included Wieniawski's Fantasia on Themes from Faust and the Bruch Violin Concerto, as well as encores by Schubert and Kreisler.
