Scottish Opera’s St Andrew’s in the Square concert series has become a highlight of Glasgow’s musical calendar. The beautifully restored Georgian church provides a relaxed and atmospheric setting for The Orchestra of Scottish Opera to leave the pit and take centre stage.

This season’s concerts have been curated by Scottish Opera Music Director, Francesco Corti, who conducts two of the concerts in the series. We also welcome two distinguished guest conductors: Rory Macdonald and Mikhail Agrest.

Pieces to be performed include Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 in E flat major, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 in A Major. Works from Tchaikovsky, Janá?ek, Britten and Wagner will sit alongside some beautiful operatic arias from composers such as Haydn, Handel, Mozart and Rossini.

Singing a selection of opera arias are tenor Ben Johnson, winner of the 2008 Kathleen Ferrier Award and Scottish Opera Emerging Artists, mezzo Louise Collett and soprano Nadine Livingstone.
