A rapid revival of this staging was thoroughly deserved, and most of the cast returned for the second run. A notable change was the promotion of Graham Clark from Zorn to the much more significant part of David, which he would soon sing at Bayreuth, at the start of a long international career singing character roles in Wagner's works.
Earlier, in the spring, the original cast had re-assembled for five more performances - three in Edinburgh, as well as Aberdeen and Newcastle - dates to be confirmed.
