Cast details are extracted from the Scotsman review (22 March).

"The Butterfly last night was Miss Miranda.   She did not overdo the pathetic side of the character, and in the final scene there was a fine dignity, which in no way transcended what might be supposed to be the natural bounds of the character.   Miss Misranda's singing was also very true and musical."

As the maid, Suzuki, after Butterfly the best drawn character, dramatically and musically, in the opera, Miss Ida Carton was also a decided success. It was a life-like study, and her agreeable contralto voise supplied a very attractive element to the general musical effect.

"there was a praiseworthy smoothness and finish in the playing of the orchestra, and the opera was artistically staged.  Altogether, the performance was one which did credit to the long and honourable record of the Carl Rosa Company."
