Cast details are taken from a surviving programme in the Mitchell library archives. A very short review is given in the Glasgow Herald (14 April).

The reviewer states, "It was not until the last act...that one felt at ease with the performance.  Previously an epidemic of vibrato had assailed the principal singers, and Arthur Hammond, who conducted, was less successful than usual in obtaining co-ordination between stage and orchestra.  One's attention was therefore too much occupied with the convention-ridden plot and the blood-and-thunder atmosphere.

In Act IV, however, there was some very good singing from Ruth Packer as Leonora and Alice Gange as the half-crazed  gypsy Azucena. John Myrrdin as Manrico was too often below pitch to be completely effective. Arthur Wallington was the Count di Luna, and of the smaller parts Donald Campbell made a good impression as Ferrando."

The company performed for four weeks in Glasgow then one in Aberdeen. The final lap, of two weeks in Edinburgh, was cancelled due to structural work having to take place in the King’s Theatre.

The schedule was as follows:-

w/c Mon 2 Apr Barber; Tue Butterfly; Wed Carmen; Thu Bohème; Fri Dutchman; Sat m Butterfly; Sat e Cav and Pag

w/c Mon 9 Apr Rigoletto; Tue Traviata; Wed Bohème; Thu Faust; Fri Trovatore; Sat m Bohème; Sat e Carmen.
