The Barber of Seville had not been part of Carl Rosa's repertoire in Scotland earlier in the year.

There was a short review in the Daily Record (18 April), from which cast details are taken. Also there was one in the Scotsman (18 April) which called the performance 'delightful'.

The 1944 visit to Scotland by Carl Rosa consisted of seven weeks, one in Aberdeen first, followed by two in Edinburgh.  The Rosa then spent two weeks at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle before moving to Glasgow for four weeks.

Crowded houses were reported, further evidenced by the provision of Wednesday matinees.
