The review in the Scotsman (8 April) pointed out that it was the first performance in the role for Ruth Packer, deputising for Helen Ogilvie, who was ill. "It was a performance which it would be a pleasure to have again.

The audience filled every seat in the King's Theatre, perhaps to some degree due to the 'present incresed desire for entertainment.'

As far as Scotland was concerned, the 1942 Carl Rosa season consisted of three weeks in Glasgow, followed by two in Edinburgh. Crowded houses were reported, evidenced in part by the Wednesday matinees.
