Traviata 1937Carl Rosa Opera Company

Read more about the opera Traviata

This, the only performance in Scotland on the 1937 Rosa tour was reviewed in the Scotsman (2 April). The feature of the evening's entertainment was the sensitive interpretation of the part of Violet by Luella Paikin, the distinguished colaratura. Miss Paikin used her wonderfully expressive voice to advantage, and her acting was equally convincing.

An ovation was given the company at the final curtain.

This was part of Carl Rosa Opera's 1937 tour. (They had missed out visiting Scotland in 1936).

A conventional repertoire was presented for a week at the King's Theatre Edinburgh, followed by two weeks at the King's Theatre Glasgow.
