The Scotsman critic said of the performance dated 14 April "...the great duet at the end of the second act displayed again how genuinely a poet Puccini was."

Of Helen Ogilvie, it was said "her voice, with continued work, is becoming more brilliant".

"Mr William Boland, last night's Pinkerton, is a heroic rather than a purely lyric tenor. He is, however, an eminentlyadaptable artist, and there was a fine charm in his share in the love-duet... The Suzuki of Miss Rispah Goodacre displayed admirable dramamtic feeling, and lovely vocal quality. She is a singer with a future".
