Immediately after the opening of his season of Italian Opera at the Theatre Royal, Mr Wood announced a series of four Saturday concerts for the month of January, employing a selection of the same artists. No start time is specified in the initial advertisement, other than 'forenoon'. The opening concert was a performance of Handel's charming bucolic tragedy Acis and Galatea to be followed by a Selection of Miscellaneous Music.
Madame Caradori, the tenor Harr Reichardt and the notable bass Karl Formes were the three leading soloists in the company and Herr Anschuetz was conductor of the Germanic elements of the operatic repertoire. It does seem unusual to have the short part of Damon, usually a tenor role, sung by a contralto, but Miss Huddart was not being given much to do during the season.
