Read more about the opera Cenerentola

The spring tour of this production was notable (in Glasgow and Edinburgh) for the only appearances in Scotland of the American mezzo Rosalind Elias, a long-standing star of the Metropolitan. North of the central belt, Cinderella was sung by the Canadian Josephte Clément, an impressive coloratura contralto who could also sing dramatic soprano roles. However in some respects the star of the show was still Ian Wallace, whose portrayal of Don Magnifico was a classic.

Apart from Cinderella, the spring season included an excellent revival of Don Giovanni. The two new productions were also of a notably high standard, The Turn of the Screw and Fidelio.

Between visits to Aberdeen and Perth the company travelled to Newcastle, doing another two performances – dates to be confirmed.
