Creation 1958Dundee Choral Union

Read more about the opera Creation

In 1908, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Dundee choir's foundation, the Choral Union performed The Creation. For the centenary, the same work was programmed, and the event was, unusually, included in the SNO's own concert season. An exalted trio of soloists was also recruited.

The conductor, Hungarian Béla de Csillery, spent several seasons in Dundee, before moving south, where he devoted much of his career to the development of musical education in the county of Kent.
