As might be expected, a performance of Haydn's great choral masterpiece by Sir Charles Mackerras and the SCO was a sprightly and cheerful affair, with many nods in the direction of authentic period practice.

The soloists, none of whom had performed frequently in Scotland, seemed a particularly well-blended crew.
