The double bill of Cav & Pag was relatively unfamiliar to modern audiences.

A reduced orchestration for twenty-six players was conducted by William Conway. The cast included an internationally established Irish tenor, Seán Ruane, and baritone Eddie Wade, a regular at Covent Garden and Glyndebourne.
