Read more about the opera Shop Girl

George Edwardes' follow-up to the hugely successful A Gaiety Girl had opened in London in November 1894, but this was its first appearance in Scotland, and by no means the last. It would be seen widely through 1896. The music was mainly by Ivan Caryll, though additional numbers by Lionel Monckton and Adrian Ross had been added.

Cast details below are from the Glasgow Herald review. Advertisements listed other members of the company, without allocating their roles. They included Walter Marnock, Fitzroy Morgan, Windham Guise, W J Manning, and Walter McEwen. The ladies were Adelaide Astor, Blanche Astley, Maud Sherman, Violet Durkin and Millie Hilton.
