Don Pasquale 1927Carl Rosa Opera Company

Read more about the opera Don Pasquale

Performances of Don Pasquale were something of a rarity in Britain around this time.

Carl Rosa had launched their production at Birmingham in 1921. It would take until 1937 for Covent Garden to mount the piece, and 1938 for it to be seen at Glyndebourne. Later still, Professor Edward J Dent would produce a modern translation for Sadler's Wells - the ancient Reynoldson text dated right back to October 1843.

Cast details are from a programme in the Mitchell Library collection.
