On paper, this seems a superb cast for Meyerbeer's hugely popular historical pageant. In this four-act version, given in Italian, the evening ended with Tietjens and Mongini bringing the house down with their great duet. Very effective.
The obligatory ballet sequence was performed by a troupe of dancers led by Mdlle Blanche Ricois.
