The opera was being given its first outing in Scotland.  The singers were Andrew Fields (bass) , Pamela Brooks (soprano) and Adrian de Peyer (tenor), the pianist being Robert Sutherland.  The director was Ande Anderson, from Covent Garden.

The evening had opened with a perfomance of Rossini's Serate Musicale, a series of solos and duets, sung by the same singers as in the opera with, in addition, Josephine Veasey and Sally Langford, with Robert Sutherland again at the piano.
