Carl Rosa again tried the musically-attractive one-acter by Bizet as a curtain-raiser for Rustic Chivalry. The total of three performances in 1892, and just a further two in 1893, give no indication that the coupling was seen as ideal. Rhys Thomas, the young tenor who sang Splendiano the first season, now moves up to the leading role of Haroun. Pauline Joran returns in the title role.
The cast is as advertised for the Lyceum performance.
