Robin Ticciati, Principal Conductor of the SCO, and Music Director Designate of Glyndebourne Festival Opera brought a strong young cast to open the SCO season, with two performances only, both in the central belt.

Young star English soprano Sally Matthews was not yet familiar here, and it was several years since Christopher Maltman was a regular visitor to Edinburgh at Festival time. Guglielmo iwa a role he had sung many times, and, like many of that role's interpreters, moved on to the older character, Don Alfonso.
