Puritan's Daughter 1889Carl Rosa Opera Company

Read more about the opera Puritan's Daughter

This was one of the last of Balfe's operas, and while it was still described as a ballad opera, it was composed on a grander scale than The Bohemian Girl. It was revived occasionally up until the time of the First World War, though even in 1889 the Herald critic regarded the revival as almost a work of musical archaeology.

The cast is as advertised in both cities, mostly confirmed by review in the Glasgow Herald.
