Boris Christoff Suggest updates

Born Plovdiv, 18 May 1914.

Died Rome, 28 June 1993.

Bulgarian bass.

Boris Christoff was one of the greatest basses of the twentieth century.

While it was, for political reasons, generally impossible for performances of Russian artists in Russian repertoire to take place in the west, Christoff held a dominant position in the west, in parts such as Boris Godunov, Dosifei and Konchak.

Christoff also had a repertoire of Italian roles by Rossini (Basilio,  Moses) and Verdi (Zaccaria,  Attila,  Fiesco,  Philip).
