Bernabé Martinez Remacha.

Born Villaroya de la Sierra, Zaragoza, 14 November 1928.

Bernabé Martí began his career singing as Bernabé Martinez, adopting the shorter form in 1960. He trained in Madrid then Rome and Siena. His first great success was in a production of La vida breve that came to Edinburgh. His subsequent international career took him round Europe and the Americas. His repertoire included major roles by Bellini, Verdi, Puccini and Giordano.

His recordings include the lead tenor role, Gualtiero, in Bellini's Il pirata, as well as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. In both he sings opposite his wife, the great Montserrat Caballé.
