English mezzo-soprano.

Carol Rowlands spent the early years of her career with Scottish Opera, and went on to sing with other British companies as well as on the continent and in the USA.

She joined Scottish Opera in 1982, working initially in the chorus. However she was quickly given a range of small parts, as well as the opportunity to cover larger ones. She went on to perform longer roles such as the Second Lady, Marcellina, Santuzza, and the title role in Blitzstein's Regina. With Scottish Opera Go Round's Autumn 1994 tour she performed the title role in The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein.

Later appearances included Grange Park (Babulenka in The Gambler 2007);  Iford Festival (Filippyevna 2009) and Music Theatre Wales (Judy in Punch and Judy 1998, revived in 2009 and seen at the ROH Linbury Studio). At Covent Garden she appeared in The Gambler as Lady comme-ci comme-ça in 2010 and as the London Housewife in Gloriana (2013).
