Hazel McBain Suggest updates

Scottish soprano.

Hazel McBain studied in London, working under Kathleen Livingstone at the Royal College of Music. She continued her training in Glasgow on the opera course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where her teacher was Wilma MacDougall. On graduating she received the Ian Smith of Stornoway Award. In the 2016/17 season she is a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist.

Parts she sang at the RCS included Monteverdi (Valletto, Minerva); Mozart (Susanna, Papagena, Servilia); Puccini (Lisette La rondine) and Vaughan Williams (Anne Page Sir John in Love). She appeared with British Youth Opera as The Vixen and with Edinburgh Grand as Musetta.

Her Scottish Opera debut was as Kätchen in Werther, returning for Giannetta The Elixir of Love and Caterina L'amico Fritz. She will also appear in The 8th Door and as Fräulein Bürstner and Leni The Trial.
