Nicholas Lester Suggest updates

Australian baritone.

Nicholas Lester studied at the Adelaide Conservatory then in London at the National Opera Studio.

He sang the Speaker in The Magic Flute with British Youth Opera. He has appeared frequently with English Touring Opera as Count Almaviva, Theseus, Figaro, Eugene Onegin, Malatesta, Marcello and Don Giovanni. Roles with Glyndebourne on Tour include Schaunard and the Mill Foreman in Jenůfa. His debut with Scottish Opera was as the Councillor of Justice in Intermezzo, returning for Speaker The Magic Flute, Ping Turandot, Blansac The Silken Ladder and Josef K The Trial. With Welsh National he has sung Rossini's Figaro. With Opera Holland Park his parts include Doctor and Shepherd in Pelléas et Mélisande, Dandini, Frédéric in Lakmé and Figaro. Other appearances in Britain include Diarte in Cavalli's Erismena at New College Oxford.

With the State Opera of South Australia he has sung Marcello. Continental appearances include Nationale Reisopera Netherlands (Schaunard), Danish National Opera (Guglielmo) and Dublin Lyric Opera (Schaunard).
