Born London 23 September 1833; died London 5 January 1916.

Mdlle Vaneri (in 1859).  Later, in 1874, billed as Miss Vaneri.

Italian soprano.

Pauline Vaneri had an important career singing throughout Europe.  She studied in Paris with the hugely famous and influential tenor Gilbert Duprez.

Her first Scottish tour, in 1859, was with Edward Glover's company from London, when she was 'seconda donna' supporting the great Therese Tietjens.

In 1874 Vaneri was a founder member of Carl Rosa's Opera Company.

In retirement she was appointed a Professor of Singing at the Milan Conservatoire, the first woman to hold such a post.
