Israeli mezzo-soprano.

 

She studied at Tel Aviv University and then in New York, at the Juilliard. Her early roles with New Israeli Opera included Carmen, Charlotte, Idamante, Giulietta, Nicklausse and Belle Hélène.

She first worked outside Israel in 2002 at the Wexford Festival as Bianca (Il Giuramento). Her most important role internationally has been Carmen, which she has sung in a number of major houses, including Berlin (Deutsche Oper), Dresden, Hamburg and Munich; Rome, Turin and Palermo; and New York (City Opera) and San Francisco. Her Rossini repertoire includes Malcolm (La donna del lago) in Genoa and Berlin (Deutsche Oper); Edoardo (Matilde di Shabran) in Pesaro; Arsace (Semiramide) in Berlin (Deutsche Oper); Isabella (L'italiana in Algeri) in Dresden; and Calbo (Maometto II) in Amsterdam. Her Handel roles include Giulio Cesare in Hamburg, Dresden, Cologne, Tel Aviv and Brussels, as well as Ariodante in Frankfurt. She has also sung Laura (La Gioconda) in Berlin, Adalgisa in Genoa, and Dalila in Montpellier and Lisbon.

Her extensive concert career includes appearances with Kurt Masur and the New York Philharmonic, as well as work with Zubin Mehta and Gustavo Dudamel.
