Born Lanzie.

Scottish mezzo-soprano.

Claire Livingstone studied in Glasgow at the RSAMD, appearing in student productions of The Coronation of Poppea and The Marriage of Figaro. While still a student she joined the Scottish Opera Chorus for the 1967 Edinburgh Festival staging of The Rake's Progress, and returned the following year for Peter Grimes. She won a Cinzano scholarship in 1969, and in 1972 a Sir James Caird Trust award to allow further training in Italy.

Her solo debut with Scottish Opera was as Third Lady in The Magic Flute - a role she sang many times over the years. This was followed by Mrs Herring on the 1970 tour to Iceland. As a regular member of the company over the next few seasons she gave a multitude of performances in over thirty roles.

Appearances with other companies included Third Lady for ENO and Grande Vestale in Spontini's La Vestale at the Wexford Festival. She also worked extensively in Germany.
