Giovanni Battista Belletti.

Born Sarzana, 17 February 1813.

Died Sarzana, 27 December 1890.

Italian baritone.

Giovanni Belletti's distinguished career is linked to that of Jenny Lind.

Belletti first worked in Stockholm in 1837, making his debut as Rossini's Figaro. He continued to appear there with Lind, having great successes, especially in works by Donizetti and Meyerbeer.

He first appeared in Britain in 1848, making his debut in London at Her Majesty's as Carlo Ernani.

Belletti toured Britain with Lind and Lumley's company. They also travelled in the USA under Barnum's management.
