New Season's Opera for Royal Conservatoire

The highlights of the RCS opera season include a UK stage premiere of the Jake Heggie opera Dead Man Walking, to be performed in May 2019.

There is a comic double bill in January, of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tirésias.

In March, there is a further double bill. Purcell's evergreen Dido and Aeneas is coupled with Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, marking his centenary year.

Edinburgh Fringe programme announced

Thi year's opera productions offer a number of delights.

Notable are Opera Bohemia's new production of Verdi's Falstaff and  Mozart's Idomeneo, performed by Aria Alba-Opera for All.

New opera is represented by Tumbling Lassie, performed by Edinburgh Studio Opera. Music is by Tom Cunningham to a libretto by Alexander McCall Smith.

Opera Allegra are to perform Violetta, a contemporary version of Verdi's Traviata.

Street Scene spectacular at RCS

A sizzling slice of 1940s New York life comes to Glasgow in one of the most ambitious productions ever staged by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. There are only four performances.
