Song of the Night by Hans Gál

Last performed in 1930, banned by Hitler along with all Gál’s music, Das Lied der Nacht [Song of the Night] is a powerful romantic drama. It shows Gál at the height of his musical power as an operatic composer. Premièred in Breslau in 1926, it was hailed as “one of the most powerful operatic experiences ever!”

'Vixen' at St Andrews

For this summer's production, Byre Opera, the opera company of the University of St Andrews, presents Janácek's much-loved opera, The Cunning Little Vixen.

Scottish premiere for Puccini

Le Villi is based on the same legend as the ballet Giselle and was written in 1883. The opera-ballet was Puccini's first stage work, and this performance at the Theatre Royal Glasgow marks its Scottish premiere.
